John Sauder, CPA
John brings 34 years of experience to Fi3. He listens intently, and presents clients with actionable steps to achieve their financial goals.
John serves as a Senior Director at Fi3 Financial Advisors, LLC. He is the former Managing Principal of CliftonLarsonAllen in Indianapolis, (CLA) where he worked with small- to mid-sized privately held companies and their owners. John retired from CLA at the end of 2015.
John has advised owners of numerous manufacturing entities, construction companies, and professional practices. His expertise is in guiding owners of privately-held companies through financial complexities, including financing options, tax planning, sales and acquisitions, and succession planning.
John brings innovative ideas to business owners to integrate family and business goals. As part of his consulting related to family business succession planning, he has worked with business owners to help adult children who are active in the business to take control, and to help owners meet their legacy objectives for adult children outside of the business.
John earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Illinois Wesleyan University. He currently serves on the board of advisors for Little Engine Ventures, a hybrid fund that is motivated to help customers, founders and investors prosper by working smarter and harder. He holds a Series 65 license, and is a Certified Public Accountant.
John served for five years on the board of the Indiana CPA Society, with his final year as the Chair. He also serves on the board of Conner Prairie, Indiana’s first Smithsonian Institute affiliate, located in Fishers, Ind.
